1) How current are the job listings?
All job openings listed in our career portal are currently valid. We remove vacancy announcements from the platform as soon a job has been filled.
2) How can I apply?
Have you discovered an interesting job opening or do you want to submit an unsolicited application? Then we invite you to submit your application via the online application form. We guarantee prompt, confidential processing of your application. To find out how online applications work at HOFER, read our 9 steps to a successful application. In compliance with the requirements of the GDPR, we can only accept applications submitted online via your applicant profile to keep your data secure.
3) Which application materials should I include?
Your application with HOFER must include a meaningful curriculum vitae in table format including an appropriate photo, relevant certificates from your school, university and past work as well as (for specific positions) a well-written personal statement. You can find the relevant requirements in each job posting under “Apply online”.
4) Whom should I address my application to?
You will find the person to apply to in the job vacancy description. An overview can be found on the page listing our current contacts.
5) How important are good academic grades for HOFER?
We consider good grades a sign of your commitment, motivation and willingness to perform. Although academic grades of course only represent one aspect of many, they are certainly characteristics we look for in our decision.
6) How will I know whether my application was received?
Make sure to not just click “Save”, but also “Apply” when submitting your application. Here’s a little trick for verifying: check whether you received an automatic confirmation e-mail – it proves that we received your application.
7) When will I receive a response to my application?
Every applicant will receive feedback – as promptly as possible (approx. two weeks). With this response, we want to express our appreciation for your effort to submit your materials.
8) Can I add documents to my application materials?
Please make sure your application materials are complete before you submit them. If any application materials are missing, a member of our recruiting team will contact you to explain how to provide additional documents.
9) What is the selection process at HOFER?
Our employees are selected in a multi-step process, which always starts with a thorough review of application documents. The next steps depend on the corresponding position and include at least one personal interview if you meet our requirements.
10) Can I reapply at HOFER if a previous application was rejected?
In most cases, a rejection refers to a specific job opening. If you are interested in another position, we will certainly welcome another application.
11) Can I apply for multiple positions at the same time?
You are welcome to apply for multiple positions. Please let us know if you have a specific preference.

16) Do men and women have equal opportunities at HOFER?

Over 50 per cent of our executives are female.
17) Is there a dress code at HOFER?
Our dress code for interviews or office work is business casual. That means you are welcome to wear jeans and classic sneakers paired with a neat blouse or dress shirt at work. A blazer/suit jacket is mandatory for executives outside of stores. Employees in logistics and in stores will receive the necessary equipment and a T-shirt from us when they are hired.
18) What are the options for people returning to work?
Whether you’re returning to the working world or changing professions, we welcome your application if a job opening matches your profile and qualifications.
19) What part-time opportunities does HOFER offer?
All of our Austrian stores have openings for Saturday jobs, which are an ideal part-time job or additional income source for students.
20) When were the photos of the new employer branding website taken?
Our employees’ well-being is a top priority for us. That also includes everyone’s health and safety. The photos for the new employer branding website were taken in the fall of 2019, prior to the spread of coronavirus in Austria.
